Zephaniah Lott (1742-1829)
Biography
Zephaniah Lott was born 14 March 1742 in New Jersey.  He was a soldier in the American Revolution, serving alongside his father Capt. Henry Lott in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
He was tavern owner.  Apparently soon after his marriage on 18 January 1773 in Pennsylvania to Else Van Pelt, who was born 11 September 1750, he followed his brother Leonard to Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
Zephaniah received a grant of land in 181[6] from the federal government for his services during the Revolution.  He left for Delaware County, Ohio, leaving behind in Pennsylvania his sons Isaac and Stephen, who were by this time married and living in nearby communities.
Zephaniah died on 26 February 1829 and was buried in the Stark Cemetery, Porter Township, Delaware, Ohio.  Else passed away 4 December 1836 and is buried next to her husband.
